What is ThermiTight®?
ThermiTight® is a non-surgical radiofrequency skin tightening treatment that uses a cannula beneath the skin to deliver heat to the subdermal tissue and improve mild to moderate skin laxity requiring only a local anesthetic. This treatment is considered a minimally invasive alternative to conventional surgical skin tightening procedures and offers results as an in-office solution with little downtime, and no scalpels or sutures!
What is the difference between ThermiTight® and other Radiofrequency skin tightening treatments?
ThermiTight® is offered as a single treatment since it’s minimally invasive and the cannula is placed beneath the skin to heat the tissue. Most radiofrequency treatments use a topical handpiece and offer some result over a series of treatments (usually 3-5). ThermiTight® also uses temperature-controlled radiofrequency meaning that Dr. Roba can customize the treatment to each patient while ensuring safety, efficacy, and patient comfort. It’s important to talk with Dr. Roba during your consultation and communicate what you’re looking for in terms of results and what kind of downtime you can tolerate.
Who is a good candidate for this treatment?
ThermiTight® is best suited for patients that are close to their ideal weight but have a specific problem area with mild to moderate skin laxity that they’d like to address. Patients who have recently lost a substantial amount of weight will likely not be candidates for this treatment as it is not a viable alternative to surgery in all cases. Dr. Roba may combine this treatment with liposuction to ensure a satisfactory result. While some tightening can be seen immediately following the treatment, peak results are seen 3 months later.
What areas of the body can be treated with ThermiTight®?
ThermiTight® has been used successfully to treat loose skin in the lower face and neck, stomach, arms, flanks, bra fat, knees, inner and outer thighs, and even lift sagging breast tissue!
Is the treatment safe?
ThermiTight® has been proven as a safe and effective treatment by multiple studies in prominent medical journals. As with any treatment, there are risks and potential complications, however these are much less common than complications that arise from conventional surgical procedures.
What is involved from start to end?
You will need to schedule a consultation with Dr. Roba to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for ThermiTight®. On the day of the procedure, the area to be treated is marked and infused with a tumescent fluid containing local anesthetic. Dr. Roba will then use a needle (not a scalpel) to create an entry point for the radiofrequency cannula. Once the radiofrequency cannula is introduced beneath the skin, the treated area is heated up to a specific temperature end point. Dr. Roba may then suction out the fat in the treatment area after the goal temperature is reached if necessary.
Afterwards, the treated area will be bandaged and dressed using a compression garment which will help reduce swelling and ensure an optimal skin tightening result. Compression garments are typically worn for 48 hours after the treatment, and during sleep for the following week.
