What is ThermiVa®?
ThermiVa® is an award-winning temperature-controlled radiofrequency treatment for vaginal rejuvenation and has been proven to help treat an array of women’s intimate health conditions. Earlier this year, ThermiVa received a 94% percent “Worth It” rating on RealSelf.com, beating out more than 100 other face and body non-invasive aesthetic treatments, and was awarded for being one of the most “Worth It” non-surgical procedures of 2019.
Who is a candidate for treatment with ThermiVa®?
Any otherwise healthy woman who:
- Leaks urine while laughing, coughing, sneezing, or during strenuous exercise
- Suffers from painful intercourse as a result of vaginal atrophy
- Experiences uncomfortable vaginal dryness as a result of hormonal changes
- Noticed a lesser sensation during sex as a result of childbirth
- Experiences a sudden, uncontrollable, urge to urinate that often leads to bladder leaks
- Desires a non-surgical treatment to tighten and improve appearance of external labial tissue
- Noticed a reduction in their ability to climax during sex as a result of childbirth or aging
How does the ThermiVa® work?
Dr. Roba or another qualified provider at Zinnia Aesthetics will use a small handpiece (about half an inch wide) to gently heat the internal and external vulvovaginal tissue to a specific temperature proven to increase collagen production and help improve nerve sensitivity in the vagina and vulva (external vaginal tissue). The treatment is conveniently offered in the privacy of the Zinnia Aesthetics and Anti-Aging clinic and takes less than half an hour to complete. Dr. Roba and his qualified staff have performed many ThermiVa® treatments with a high level of patient satisfaction and they will answer any questions or concerns you have about the treatment in your initial consultation. You will need a total of three treatments, spaced one month apart, and most patients will come in for a single maintenance treatment each year following their initial three-treatment package.
The best part is, there is no downtime or disruption to your daily routine following a ThermiVa®treatment, so the vast majority of patients can have sexual intercourse the same night!
Are there any Side Effects?
Side effects from a ThermiVa® treatment are rare and usually very minor. Each patient will experience some degree of redness and minor swelling following the procedure that will last in the treatment area for a few hours or so. For those patients dealing with severe vaginal dryness, it’s important to note that you may experience some spotting (bleeding) following the treatment for a few days.
Is the Procedure Painful?
The temperature-controlled radiofrequency delivered during a ThermiVa® treatment has been described as the same level of heat as a hot stone massage. In fact, the treatment is so safe and tolerable that it doesn’t require any anesthesia! For patients dealing with severe vaginal dryness (to the point where having a GYN exam is uncomfortable), the first ThermiVa® treatment may be a bit more uncomfortable, so you will typically start off at a lower temperature.
Are the results from ThermiVa® permanent?
Results from ThermiVa® are not permanent as the aging process does not stop and women will continue to lose collagen in their vagina and vulva. Studies show results from ThermiVa® are sustained for 6-12 months depending on the condition being treated.
Is ThermiVa® covered by insurance?
At this time, ThermiVa® is not covered by insurance. In some cases, ThermiVa® may be HSA/FSA eligible with a letter of medical necessity. During your consultation with Dr. Roba and the Zinnia Aesthetics and Anti-Aging clinic staff, the cost of the ThermiVa® treatment package will be discussed, and financing options are available for those who qualify.
