P – Shot Treatment for ED
The P-Shot was invented by Dr.Charles Runels who coined the term Priapus Shot or P-Shot, which is a nonsurgical medical intervention used to treat erectile dysfunction.
How Does the P-Shot Work?
The main treatment consists of injecting activated Platelet Rich Plasma into the Erectile tissue of the penis.
The platelets are derived from drawing blood from the patient then centrifuging the blood in a specialized centrifuge. Once the platelets that are now concentrated are isolated they are activated and ready to be used.
The platelets release growth factors that when injected in damage tissue repair and rejuvenate damaged tissue.
One important growth factor involved in treating erectile dysfunction is vascular endothelial growth factor which is the growth factor responsible for the creation of new blood vessels. The new blood vessels created in the penis help in increasing blood flow to the penis which is key to achieving and maintaining an erection.
Who benefits from the P – shot?
Any male with erectile dysfunction due to vascular disease
Men with Peyronie’s disease
Men with loss of sensation to the penis
Although there is yet no robust scientific studies to back the assertion by some that the p shot increases size, there are ample anecdotal evidence that the p shot does cause a mild to modest increase in penile size.
Any Side Effects?
The procedure is devoid of any serious side effects but some men can experience
Pain during the procedure
Bleeding and bruising
Minimal swelling post procedure
The procedure takes about 30 to 45 minutes, its virtually pain free and after treatment the patient can go back to regular activity.
